BELGACOM MOBILE (PROXIMUS) Working as part of a small team overseeing the networking (LAN, WAN) for the company, this involved configuration of Routers (Cisco), Catalysts (Cisco), Firewall 1 (Sun) and Solaris. In addition VMS UCX and other networking products. Protocols used were OSPF, RIP and Eigrp The management was performed using Sun net manager and HP Openview Main projects involved bringing new sites into the network and updating the existing network. (Aprox 1000 nodes, 20 routers and 20 Catalysts) as well as starting the design of a high availability Firewall system to update the existing single system Day to day trouble shooting was also part of this contract performed using Sun net manager and HP Openview

Brought in under contract to make up a team of two specialists to set up in-house control and management of a wide area network for a multinational customer, this network consisting of some 180 Cisco routers in twenty countries worldwide. The communications were over a mixture of frame relay, leased line, ISDN and X25 using OSPF routing for various protocols including IP, IDNX, XOT among others This work also included setting up the network management system based on Sun Sparc stations and VAX/ALPHA. The primary managent system was Sun Net Manager on the Suns and other monitoring facilities such as Polycentre Watchdog. Developed procedures for use by the operations staff at the district offices and provided telephone support for both head office personnel and the district offices. Installed and managed Decnet PSI and Jnet Internet software to link the systems to the external Internet. Installation and upgrade of VAX/VMS. I also wrote procedures in Basic and DCL to help engineers use the system from menu based programs. I also prepared tutorial matter using the TEX (VAX document) word processor and typesetting software
